Girdwood Fire Department's primary mission is to provide Fire, Rescue and EMS services to the Girdwood Fire Service District and the Turnagain Arm Community.
We offer additional services to our community including:
Public Education and Fire Prevention
October is Fire Prevention Month, but we participate in public outreach throughout the entire calendar year. We often visit the Girdwood Elementary School and provide age-appropriate presentations on fire prevention and life safety. We provide educational tours of the fire station to the general public, for all types of groups and ages - from the Little Bears preschoolers to adults. We are also active with the Boy Scouts of America, providing course material suitable for Merit Badges.
EMT and FF Certification Courses
We have several Alaska State certified instructors for both EMS and Fire. We hold annual Alaska State EMT and FF certficate courses, based on department needs and resources. These courses are available to members and the general public. Our annual EMT I class is popular with local ski patrollers and backcountry guides.
CPR / First Aid Courses
The Girdwood Fire Department has certified American Heart Association CPR Instructors. We can tailor a course for your organization or provide one-on-one individual certification. We can come to your location, or provide a classroom experience at our fire station.
Please contact at 907-783-2511 us to schedule a CPR class.
